Sportsbook Football Odds: Alabama, Auburn SEC West Favorites

Oddsmakers imply that the 2015 SEC West Division championship could come down to the Iron Bowl again. However, the divisional race could be among the most competitive in recent times with the top five favorites divided by a narrow disparity.

Perennial favorite and reloaded Alabama launches in the accustomed view as alpha species, though at a less prohibitive +215. In-state rival Auburn follows at +350. The beat writers’ poll suggests Auburn will be the most volatile as “experts” debate the impact of former Florida head coach Will Muschamp being instilled as the new defensive coordinator, addressing the Tigers Achilles heel. Despite serious reservations at the quarterback position, LSU is third at +480. See the East Divisional preview.

One of last year’s pleasant surprises Mississippi tries to continue the success buoyed by the 2013 recruiting class, though sportsbook odds give them lukewarm respect at +510. After 1 and ½ years of losing heartbreaking contests before finishing last season with five straight up wins in their final six, Arkansas rounds up the cluster of contenders at +550.

Texas A&M is given little shot in the superior division at +1400, while bookies say midnight has arrived for 2014 Cinderella team Mississippi State, minus seven starters on offense, eight on defense, at +2100.
